Patriot Software™ was built for the Large Business customer. The components of the application are enabled by the Corporate Administrator or Site Administrator based on their response to a series of environmental, health, safety and risk management questions (The Risk Profile). By simply going back into the Risk Profile and altering the responses to questions, more components can be activated. So, as a company expands so does the application.

SMC introduces RiskProfiling Technology™, integrated intelligence that helps companies identify, evaluate and control environmental, health and safety (EHS) risk. Patriot Software™ enables this technology, using a unique filtering mechanism that allows an organization to interactively configure EHS/Risk content. Risk profiling is comprised of a set of templates that provides an initial or baseline value about primary risk areas (PRA's) in a particular SIC group. The Risk Template was created using standard industry classification (SIC) information from Bureau of Labor statistics and EPA statistics; it is the risk experience of a particular industry classification. A corporate or site Risk Profile is compared to the baseline SIC group that corresponds to the particular corporate or site standard industry classification (SIC). An index is then generated that is the variance between their profile and the baseline SIC risk template. The system dynamically filters the content that has been identified as a risk area and establishes a point in time snapshot (report) of EHS risk information (the profile). The profile is updated as various risk components of the system are activated and used by a company or dynamically changes when triggered by certain events, such as an injury or illness.

SMC's applications and content are applied using cascading software architecture. This architecture is based on the user organization defining their business hierarchy, site hierarchy and occupational hierarchy to accommodate the business infrastructures. More importantly, the cascading architecture empowers the customer to be able to retrieve risk statistics about their organization or part of the organization in real-time. The basis for prevention is the ability to oversee and respond to events in a timely manner. From an Enterprise Risk Management perspective, this means providing timely information and intelligent decision support functionality for EHS professionals and others in the extended enterprise, streamlining business processes and supporting collaboration.

Whether Patriot Software™ is provided through client-server licensing or via an application service environment (ASP), we are able to deploy Patriot more effectively across geographically dispersed organizations. The Web-centric architecture of our solution ensures that we can rapidly update our software to incorporate any new risk management information, methodologies or custom integration.

Patriot Software™ uses J2EE open-architecture with a mySQL backend. Other backend technology such as Oracle or DB2 can be used as well. Cross platform collaboration is achieved using XML. Patriot Software™ can merge data and real-time events from other corporate systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning, Supply Chain Management, and B2B platforms, with regulatory, corporate, and commercial EHS/Risk data, to create a singular planning and decision support environment.
